Cristina Henriquez’s Favorite Place

Cristina Henriquez’s short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, but she’s best known for her novel “The Book of Unknown Americans.” A native of Delaware with family roots in Panama, Henriquez reserves a special place in her heart for the Hinsdale Public Library, just outside of Chicago. It was a haven for the young writer, when the librarians “were the only people who knew me in this town.”
